Everything is Miscellaneous (if you define the terms broadly enough)

I'm currently reading: Everything is Miscellaneous by David Weinberger.

He says "Four new strategic principles are emerging....."
  • Filter on the way out, not on the way in - put everything in & let the punters decide what/how they find and arrange.
  • Put each leaf on as many branches as possible - it costs little extra, so put items in as many different categories/containers as might make sense.
  • Everything is metadata and everything can be a label - see above.
  • Give up control - allow others to extend metadata and therefore categorisation and findability.
Not yet half way through...

Update: Peter Morville has a few quibbles in (Not) Everything is Miscellaneous.
