LeJos

leJOS LeJos is a Java VM for the Lego RCX programmable brick. There is even a plug-in for Eclipse.
Lego have a whole separate set of kits and programming tools for the Mindstorms robots that are aimed at the education market.
Details on the internals of the RCX robots are also in abundance.
